I've always been told that if I criticize a man, even in private, I'm "emasculating" him. In the past when I've said anything other than yes to a man and threatened his 'power', he uses intimidation to take back his masculinity that I've apparently stolen from him.
We, as women, have been the emotionally resilient, willing to become humble around men. Anything other than a "yes" is considered tearing them down.
You are right on. When the toxic male culture uses this concept to stay in power and to have their ego fed, it's time to dismantle men's fragile concept of their masculinity and toughen them up by speaking our minds and liberating ourselves.
Great article, Yael!
