Why Does Bacon Taste So Good?

It’s from the underbelly of a pig, for God’s sake

I’m at work today, and my routine is to grab a coffee and some eggs in the cafeteria before I start work.

I walked into the cafeteria today and the scent of bacon overwhelmed me with desire. Without thinking, I bought two slabs along with my coffee.

As I walked back to my office, I sorta kicked myself because bacon isn’t on my diet. That dissipated once I put a piece in my mouth.

The savory, salty, buttery, sweet taste of this meat, there’s nothing to compare to it.

There’s no denying that Americans love bacon. We worship it in our modern times. We create memes for bacon, wear t-shirts and have a running joke about how it’s good on everything (kind of like peanut butter).

What is the best thing to eat with bacon? Everything!

It’s great in an omelet, on a burger, or wrapped around a steak filet. It works on top of a donut, and I’ve even tried ice cream filled with chunks of bacon. It was delicious!

In different parts of the world, bacon looks different (think Canadian bacon compared to American bacon; completely different!). In The United States, our bacon comes from pork belly cut into strips and looks like this:

We love bacon so much, we create festivals for bacon. There’s even a bacon summer camp in Ann Arbor, Michigan, that celebrates everything-bacon and has several exhibits, speakers, a bacon dance, and a street fair. All to explore the world of bacon.

If you can’t think of a unique gift for your loved one, you may want to consider giving them a dozen bacon roses.

I’ve recently found out that I CAN have bacon on my diet! Not an overwhelming amount, but at least a little bit. It has a place in a restricted carb diet.

When is the best time to have bacon? Anytime! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, snack…you name it, it works any time of the day.

LONG LIVE BACON!
